I'm having trouble installing ClockworkMod Recovery. Step ii works fine and the ROM Manager tells me it flashed the recovery successfully, but then I'm unable to boot into recovery. If I use the 3-button-combo my i9000 just boots into the regular Android system recovery, if I use the ROM Manager's "Reboot into Recovery"- option, I see the messages:
    [article]-- Installing package...
    Finding update package...
    Opening update package...
    Verifying update package...
    E:failed to verify whole-file signature
    E:signature verification failed
    Installation aborted.[/article]

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Nevermind, I managed to install CMW using this: http://theunlockr.com/2012/11/22/how-to-install-clockworkmod-recovery-on-the-samsung-galaxy-s-i9000/

After that, the rest of your guide worked like a breeze. Thanks!

Great to hear that it helped you. If you see in the step 5 picture, there is an option "Toggle Signature Verification". Just clicking that before flashing the ROM would have made it work for you.

Anyways, enjoy your new ICS install :)

The ROM Manager didn't work for me: it didn't offer the Advanced option to clear the Dalvik cache so I couldn't do step (4). That meant it entered a boot loop at step (5).

Repeating with the 3 button combo, I was able to complete the procedure successfully. :)
